![]() Reviews I've heard suggest the core combat is fun, the map design is great, and the scripted set-piece battles on the Allied campaign are amazing, but the rest of the campaign is pretty awful and the game feels unfinished in several regards. They do have a bit of a skill cliff to get into- although that's in a large part because the matchmaking in them is rubbish to nonexistent and they're niche so you tend to end up with a small, extremely proficient playerbase that will rip any less skilled players to shreds- but the lack of base building does help limit the mental load you need to carry at any given moment. In the past decade I've mostly done those aforementioned Eugen games which don't have any basebuilding at all. It's just probably not fun for everyone, same as pretty much every other genre. Part of the reason I don't play as many these days. Yes, it's fun, although remaining good at an RTS like Starcraft does take an awful lot of time investment to keep your skills up.
